PepsiCo India and The Social Lab organize the first ever Plog Run in Sangrur, marking Swachh Bharat Diwas

Sangrur, 05th October 2024: PepsiCo India, in collaboration with The Social Lab (TSL), led the first ever city edition of the Plog Run at Sangrur Circular Chowk, Punjab as part of its commitment to driving awareness on plastic waste management. This initiative, aligned to the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission, brings together fitness and sustainability, with volunteers collecting plastic waste while jogging. Smt. Narinder Kaur Bharaj, MLA, Sangrurflagged off the Plog Run along with Satyam Gupta, Plant Head – Channo, PepsiCo India. Leaders from Municipal Council Sangrur, Shri Gurinder Singh, Executive Officer, Smt. Ritu Sharma, Community Facilitator, Shri Narinder Sharma, Sanitary Inspector and Jasveer Singh, Sanitary Inspector, also graced the event.

The Plog Run saw 200+ participants, including employees, volunteers, and local citizens, covering 3.5 kilometers stretch while collecting 275 kilograms of plastic waste. The local administration ensured smooth facilitation through the presence of 100+ volunteers from the Municipal Council and MLA office Sangrur. All the plastic waste collected will be segregated and recycled, contributing to PepsiCo India's goal of ensuring that plastic waste is repurposed, not discarded.

The Plog Run 2024 is being organized across multiple states, including Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Kolkata and Assam, with hundreds of volunteers joining the run for a good cause. By combining fitness with environmental action, the initiative continues to educate diverse communities on the importance of plastic waste management and responsible recycling, aligning with PepsiCo India’s broader efforts to promote sustainability.
