In the days following the devastating earthquake in Nepal, PepsiCo India and our local bottling partner donated more than 70,000 liters of Aquafina to earthquake victims. PepsiCo India and the PepsiCo Foundation are now working with partners to get much needed supplies, food and more water to the impacted people.
The PepsiCo Foundation has committed $250,000 for relief to Nepal through the American Red Cross, in addition to funds already committed through its Annual Disaster Giving Program. The American Red Cross has deployed a team of disaster specialists who are working closely with the Nepal Red Cross and the global Red Cross network partners to assist with search and rescue, provide and distribute relief supplies, support telecommunications activities and reconnect family members separated by the earthquake. In addition, the PepsiCo Foundation will be matching employee donations for Nepal disaster relief.
PepsiCo’s India operation is contributing to logistical support to get basic necessities to people across Nepal as quickly as possible. In addition, they’ll be providing in kind product donations, including more than one million litre bottles of Aquafina purified drinking water and at least one metric ton of nourishing Quaker Oats. Products are being supplied in partnership with Varun Beverages Limited, the company’s largest bottling partner in India, as well as other local, regional and international aid organizations.
