7UP draws fresh musical talent in the city of Hyderabad during auditions for “7UP Ooh lalala”

One lucky winner band judged by music impresario - A. R. Rehman will get exclusive opportunity to perform live at the mega ceremony organized by Saregama!

Hyderabad, June 29 2007: 7UP, the natural Lemon & Lime Flavour brand of PepsiCo India, today drew huge crowds in the city of Hyderabad towards its popular new show "Ooh lalala" 2007. Music bands from across the city participated with great gusto and gave auditions during the regional rounds of "7UP Ooh lalala" 2007. The performances were judged by Adrushta Deepak Pallikonda - India's leading sound engineer who was awarded the `Best recording engineer' award for film `Paheli' and also won the AV MAX 2005 award, besides many other achievements.

The new natural flavoured 7UP has partnered with Saregama and Gemini TV to present a unique talent hunt program titled "7UP Ooh lalala" 2007 which calls upon all musicians, vocalists and music lovers in the country. The talent hunt is a one-of-its-kind search that has been initiated in Andhra Pradesh. AR Rahman the Mozart of Asia, himself is championing this search and will judge the bands in the final round of "7UP Ooh lalala" 2007.

The lucky winner band will get an exclusive opportunity to perform live at the mega ceremony organized by Saregama to commemorate 100 Years of its association with Indian Music - A once in lifetime opportunity!! It will also get to cut and design its own Music album with HMV-SAREGAMA, the biggest name in the music industry.

Commenting on 7UP's unique initiative, Mr. Pratik Pota, Executive Vice President - Marketing, Flavours PepsiCo India said, "The 7UP Ooh lalala mega talent hunt is aimed at building consumer affinity. Over the years, 7UP has truly gaining popularity amongst the youth and the brands' role is to help connect with what the youth of today wants to do. Music is a key element of their lives and we are positive that the show will help recognize their hidden talent".

7UP is the presenting sponsor for the talent hunt in Andhra Pradesh. The talent show, is all about searching the best music group, not only singing talent, but complete music performers on stage - Vocal and Instrumental. Participating bands can be a five to eight member group with one male or female singer. The band can have its own distinctive style - be it rock, pop, light melody, fusion, jazz, trance, folk etc. The band will need to play compositions based on the famous lyric writer - Vaalee's lyrics, created on the theme of "Hope". Joining the team of selectors will be Vasundhara Das who will judge the bands during the preliminary selections.

18 winning bands will be selected through auditions in various cities. They will play in the Quarterfinals, followed by the Semi finals. A.R.Rahman will judge the final round. A series of episodes of the promotion will be aired on Gemini TV, which will culminate in the winner band being announced in the month of August 2007.

The promotion is being activated across TV, press ads, outdoors, non traditional media, modern trade and web. Participant bands can either call at the call centre number to register or access the new website - www.Oohlalala.in. Application forms will also be available in RPG Saregama retail outlets such as Spencers, Music World, Reliance Web World etc.

The auditions, which is the ground leg of the hunt, is being held in 5 centers of Andhra Pradesh – ie. Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Vizag, Rajamundri and Thirupathi.
