Tropicana wins the GOLD TRUSTED BRAND AWARD in the juice category

New Delhi: June 27, 2008: Tropicana, the international juice brand from PepsiCo has been awarded the GOLD TRUSTED BRAND AWARD in the most Trusted Brand 2008 Survey in India.

According to Ms Punita Lal, Executive Director Marketing- PepsiCo India, "Achieving the Gold Award in the Trusted Brand status is a genuine recognition of consumers' approval. It gives immense pleasure to the team since the results reflect consumers' choice of their most trusted and favorite brands among the numerous available in the market".

The Readers Digest Gold Trusted Brand Award validates the quality of Tropicana juices and is a genuine recognition of our consumers choice", she further added.

Tropicana's growth was faster than the category last year and this year too the brand will keep the momentum going through exciting launches, educational campaigns & consumer promotions.


Reader's Digest Asia Trusted Brands Survey (previously known as Reader's Digest Super Brands) was launched in 1999 and has been carried out annually for the past ten years. The survey identifies which brands appeal most to the affluent Asian consumers.

The award is part of the Reader's Digest Survey 2008 and Tropicana fulfilled the following criteria basis which the selection was made:

  • The survey is carried out for Reader's Digest by The Nielsen Company. Consumers are surveyed through questionnaires distributed in Reader's Digest as well as through telephone interviews of randomly selected consumers in Hong Kong, India, Mainland China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand
  • Survey respondents were asked to name their most trusted brand in each of the product categories, and then to give each brand a rating, from 1 (low) to 5 (high), on six qualitative criteria: Trustworthiness, Credible Image, Quality, Value, Understanding of Customer Needs, and Innovation. Each brand then receives a mathematical score based on the number of respondents who named it, multiplied by the average rating on the six qualitative criteria
  • Brands which score clearly above competitors receive a Gold Trusted Brand Award. Most Trusted Brand Award winners achieve Gold status
