at the SHRM India HR Awards 2013

New Delhi, October 3, 2013: PepsiCo India, one of the largest food and beverage businesses in India, has been announced as the winner of the ‘Developing Leaders of Tomorrow’ award at the second edition of the SHRM (Society of Human resource Management) India HR awards 2013. This award recognizes companies that implement best practices in the field of People Management in order to develop potential leaders.

PepsiCo India’s leadership pipeline is built by leveraging the 70:20:10 principle. Therein we use the People Planning process to meticulously plan the moves of our key talent to give them the right critical experiences at the right time to maximize on the job learning (70). We foster a coaching culture and run structured mentorship and exposure programs that facilitate learning from others (20); while the classroom learning (10) is delivered through structured leadership academies at every leadership transition level from Assistant Managers to CEOs coupled with live projects and transformational learning and development program. This 70:20:10 approach provides our key talent challenging experiences, helping them succeed and grow in PepsiCo while sustaining the business growth agenda. Built around its key leadership imperatives, PepsiCo India’s Leadership development programmes enable employees to build their own leadership competencies at different stages of their growth.

The SHRM India HR Awards have been instituted as an exemplary platform to recognize organizations that put people first and also celebrate and acknowledge organizations that work passionately towards raising the bar for the profession through constant innovation. A total of 97 entries across 7 categories received by the SHRM India, were judged by an eminent jury panel consisting of industry experts and organization heads.

The parameters for evaluation of entrees in the ‘Developing Leaders of tomorrow’ category included, growth in the number/percentage of potential and emerging leaders identified in-house for future roles, quality and diversity of developmental projects/initiatives provided to potential leaders, the evaluation approach to assess the performance of the identified future leaders in roles which require them to demonstrate the requisite attributes, along with financial and people related investments made in this area and retention of high potential leadership talent identified through this process.
