Pepsi says “Oh Yes Abhi!” to Unmukt Chand

  • Signs on the Captain of the under-19 Indian Cricket as its brand ambassador
  • Launches an irreverent campaign that brings alive the ultimate face-off between this young and emerging cricketer with the stars of the Indian cricket team – MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina

New Delhi, March 1, 2013: Pepsi, the trend-setting brand, today announced the appointment of young cricketing sensation, Unmukt Chand as its brand ambassador. Unmukt, who is emerging as one of the most promising cricketers in the country, personifies Pepsi’s youthful, irreverent and “Oh Yes Abhi!” spirit. Having led the Under-19 Indian Cricket Team to a World Cup victory in 2012, he will now be seen in the upcoming Pepsi-IPL tournament. Not only this, he also features in its upcoming ad-film that brings alive the ultimate face-off between him and the captain of the Indian cricket team MS Dhoni along with Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina. The fun and entertaining campaign scheduled to go on-air on March 1, captures their impatient moments and promises to leave the audiences engaged like never before.

Speaking about the association and the upcoming campaign, Homi Battiwalla, Senior Director – Marketing (Colas, Juices and Hydration), PepsiCo India, said “Pepsi is known to be the first brand to identify youth icons early in time and tap talent with tremendous potential and credibility. “Our latest campaign takes forward the ‘Oh Yes Abhi’ philosophy and brings alive Unmukt’s impatient moments in his first ever ad-film with MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina. The film showcases the young emerging star impatient to be a part of the Indian cricket team which exemplifies our positioning in a fun and exciting manner,” he further added.

Chand’s appointment as a brand ambassador takes forward Pepsi’s legacy of roping in young and emerging talent with a potential to become youth icons. It is in sync with the brand’s “Oh Yes Abhi!” positioning that celebrates impatience and raring to go attitude in the youth. Just like its ahead-of-the-curve association with Chand, the brand had also signed Indian cricket team’s captain, M.S. Dhoni and Bollywood’s reigning star, Ranbir Kapoor before they became the achievers they are today.

The TVC brings alive Pepsi’s youthful irreverence and demonstrates the Oh Yes Abhi! moments of these Pepsi brand ambassadors and youth icons. Unmukt Chand, in his cool look is shown waiting impatiently, all anxious to get hold of a Pepsi bottle; while MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina are also waiting to get their hands on it. To bring it alive for consumers, the brand had launched a mega campaign starring Ranbir Kapoor, MS Dhoni and Priyanka Chopra last month that captured their impatient moments.
